Celto-Ligurian tribes settled here from the 9th Century, BCE, and the Romans in the 3rd Century BCE. During the 5th Century, Tourrettes-sur-Loup suffered barbarian invasions by the Visigoths, Huns, Franks and Lombards until the Saracens fortified the site and occupied it until 972.
